Hofy’s 2020
remote work survey

How UK employees feel about WFH post-pandemic, the quality of their home workstations and the impact on job satisfaction.

The COVID-19 pandemic has fuelled the largest global shift to remote working to date. Organisations were forced to adjust to working from home as the norm almost overnight when governments enforced national lockdowns in early 2020. Many companies are still navigating the new remote working reality a year on.

Remote working in the UK: 2020-21

Less than 6% of UK employees worked exclusively from home in January/February 2020.
This rose to almost half (46.6%) of UK employees working from home at least part-time in April 2020, shortly after the UK entered a national lockdown.

As of January 2021, 1 in 4 UK adults works exclusively from home.

Hofy conducted a survey in December 2020 to see how remote workers were faring 9 months in. We learnt that employees are happy working from home, and feel just as, if not more, productive than working in an office. But they are still not completely satisfied with their home set-ups and their organisation’s remote work policy. Many employers are still falling short when it comes to provisioning equipment and providing clear information about future working arrangements.

Here’s the breakdown of the most interesting insights from our 2020 remote work survey.
